I’m going to Paris for spring break and I wanted to know if I could get a better deal at a travel site like orbitz.com or hotel.com or if I should just try a local travel agency. I’m a little paranoid they would rip me off. I’m starting from TX so its not as if I have lots of choices. Thanks!
Online travel agency is probably cheaper, but you’ll get better customer service from the local person.

Assuming a direct flight, between 10 and 12 hours depending on routing…
Bring a lot to read, buy water once in the airport (if its an overnight flight they don’t have service the entire flight so people can nap). Get a GOOD set of over the ear headphones (earbuds get uncomfortable after 8 hours in the air).
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. I’ve been known to throw PJs or scubs in my carry-on. There’s no fashion shows on airplanes.
Basically, comfort is key, don’t be afraid to invest a little in the things that make you comfortable, especially if you will be flying a lot.
I want to surprise my honey with a 10-day vacation and take him back to where he is from and to visit his family in Warsaw, and I’d like to show him where my family is from and visit Amsterdam, too. Who knows the best way to plan a multi-city trip like this one on a budget? I know I can (and I already have) checked all the websites like Orbitz, Hotwire, and Travelocity. We don’t need a hotel, because we would be spending time with family (or we would find a hostel to stay in, too). All we need are the flights. I’m looking for those best kept secrets and discounts no one ever hears about! Anyone know any? The best deal I’ve found so far is about $900/person. Thanks!

Not too many options to book on line since your flight originates outside of the US. Try Expedia.com (actually not too expensive for one-way), or Kayak.com to compare prices. And then check with a couple of Athens travel agencies or any Greek airline agency to see if you can get it even cheaper, which I am sure you will be able to. Good Luck.
